Descent

The descent or deceleration phase is the phase where the vehicle decelerates to velocities acceptable for landing. For most landings, parachutes are used. These parachutes use a large cloth area to generate drag and slow down the vehicle. As an alternative to parachutes systems such as propulsive landing or helicopter rotors can be used.
